In addition to the very well-equipped library at the Central Office in Frankfurt am Main and the specialist libraries at the regional offices, the Deutsche Bundesbank has its own university library in Hachenburg. Students can request textbooks, journals and loose-leaf publications from any of the Deutsche Bundesbank’s specialist libraries at any stage during their theoretical and practical studies, in particular when writing their Bachelor’s thesis. Books or publications are delivered free of charge by internal post, generally on the next working day.

Our university library currently has more than 13,000 textbooks, 100 academic journals and over 50 loose-leaf publications.

Students can view the library’s collection, which is indexed with the help of key words, at any time and place (also during the periods of practical study) on-site or via the university’s pages on the Bank’s intranet.

Books may be borrowed free of charge during the library’s opening times between 8.00 and 16.30 (Tue-Wed 18.30). Outside these hours and at the weekends, students may enter the library together with a member of the security staff and borrow books, thus ensuring a 24-hour lending service.

In addition, the Bank’s intranet offers many more online possibilities, such as numerous online databases (WISO-Net, EconLit udgl.), various eJournals (electronic journals), a press article database updated on a daily basis with around 140,000 press articles, speeches, interviews and press releases, and many more databases.

Furthermore, our students make use of the long-standing cooperation with the town library in Hachenburg. This enables them to receive books via inter-library loans within Germany if a publication is not available in the Deutsche Bundesbank libraries.
